SP: We haven't held any weddings for a long time.
Dicky: It's better to make money out of a happy occasion than someone's death.
TD: Here comes the bride.

Everybody applauds.

Dicky: The time has come! Bow to Heaven and Earth.
SP: Heaven is your witness. Diep Thien Thanh, Bang Tam, after this ceremony, you'll be man and wife. First, bow to Heaven and Earth.
Alec: Wait! There's a matter about which I've always been unclear. Since all of you are present, I should clear my doubts. What makes a good husband? Can a good husband be fickle in his affections?
Dicky: Of course not! He has to be faithful to his wife.
Alec: Should he abandon a woman after seducing her?
TD: Of course not.
Alec: Should he blow hot and cold?
SP: I would like but that's not allowed after marriage.
Alec: Alright, no need to teach me.
Alec (to Ruby): Whould you let me fall in love with every woman I meet?
Ruby: Of course not.
Alec: Alright. No giving up the old for the new?
TD: Yes.
Alec: No blowing hot and cold?
SP: Yes.
Alec: No abandoning a woman after seducing her?
Dicky: Yes.
Alec: No falling in love with other women?
People: Yes.
Alec (to Ruby): Why should I marry you then?
Ruby: What?
Alec: The woman I love most was my wife-to-be. You said a man shouldn't fall in love with every woman he meets.
TD: That's different.
Dicky: These are two different matters.
SP: Your wife-to-be is dead so it's a different matter altogether.
Alec: If I marry you, I will be a cad who loves them and leaves them. I'm not fit to marry you.
Ruby: Diep Thien Thanh!
Alec: It's not that I don't want to marry you. It's you the one who don't want to marry me but a man better than me.
TD: If you don't want to marry her, why didn't you say it earlier? Why make her suffer like this?
Ruby: Tieu Diep, say no more.
Ruby (to Alec): I know you want to make me suffer. But I'm not suffering. My love for you will never change. I won't force you to marry me. Because I believe absolute sincerity will move a heart of stone. You will accept me one day.
Ruby (to TD): Tieu Diep, let's go.

Ruby and TD leave the room. Everybody turns to Alec.

Alec: You might think I'm too much but I have my difficulties. May we meet again.
Dicky: Where are you going?
Alec: It makes no difference where I go.
Dicky: In that case, you might as well stay put.

Alec leaves.

Dicky: Elder Diep! Elder Diep! O, what is love?

Ruby: Brother Diep, you're awake! Brother Diep, I had a hard time searching for you.
TD (Ruby's maid): Young Mistress thought of you all the time. You mustn't let her down.
Alec: Why did you look for me?
Ruby: Have you forgotten our agreement?
TD: Yes, you told Young Mistress you'd return 10 years later to marry her.
Alec: I said that in jest. Don't take what I said seriously.
Ruby: What jest? I, Bang Tam, never joke about matters of the heart.
TD: You can't take back what you said. Young Mistress travelled a long way to look for you. You've got to marry her.
Ruby: 10 years ago, you complained I was too young. But now, I've grown up. If you're still unhappy with me, I can change.
Alec: There's nothing wrong with you and I've never complained. But I gave my heart to my wife-to-be years ago.
Ruby: But she's passed away. Are you still unable to forget her?
Alec: There's no way I can ever forget her.
Ruby: Does it mean you'll only cherish me when I've passed on?

She takes a sword and wants to commit suicide. TD and Alec come to save her.

Alec: That's not what I mean.
Ruby: Life has no more meaning for me.

Suddenly, Dicky opens the door.

Dicky: Look at her. You'd better marry her.

Ruby: Diep Thien Thanh! Diep Thien Thanh!
Alec: Who are you?
Ruby: I was the little girl at Medicine King Valley. Dont you remember? I was only 8 then. You said you'd return in 10 years to marry me.
Alec: I see.
Ruby: You remember me now? I am here so that you can fulfill your promise to me. I want to marry you.

Suddenly, Alec have a terrible headache.

Ruby: What's wrong with you?
Alec: I have a terrible headache. I feel as if a fire is burning inside my internal organs. I am going to die.
Ruby: No, you just trained too hard. Take good care of yourself and you'll be fine. Ah, I have an antidote.

She give the antidote to him but he refuse.

Ruby: Don't worry. I'm the Medicine King's disciple. You'll be fine after taking it.

He take it.

Ruby: Do you feel better now?

He faints. She kisses him.

DOMD 2000 - eps 39 & 40 - Tieu Bao talks to his wives before being beheaded

Tieu Bao is in the jail waiting to be beheaded. Suddenly his wives come to see him for the last time.

Athena: Hubby!
Ruby: Hubby!
Jessie: Tieu Bao!
Teresa: Hubby!
Annie: Hubby!
Monica: Tieu Bao!
Dicky: Kien Ninh, Song Nhi, Long Nhi, A Kha, Phuong Gi, Binh Nhi. What are all of you doing here? There's no fun here.
Ruby: His Majesty told us to come and have a chat with you.
Dicky: It's kind of him.
Athena: Hubby, feel it. Our baby is arriving soon. I need you to bring him up. Without you, he'll go astray. I know you could escape. Why did you give yourself up? Why play the hero?
Dicky: Let me listen to the baby. Hey, call me "Father". You won't get to see me after your birth. I'm not sure if it's a boy or a girl. I'm not pretending, but I am paying someone with my life. I have to pay my best friend with my life. My life in exchange for the lives of my brothers of the Society (Thien Dia Hoi) . It is worth it.
Athena: Do you really value loyalty to friends above our love for you?
Dicky: You can't compare things that are different in nature. I know I'm foolish. But give me a chance to be this foolish. A man should be upright and maintain a clear conscience. Of course I would love to see my children. But if they were to see a father who betrayed his friends...and who didn't keep his promises, I would rather they never had a chance to see me. " Then, he'll say loudly, "My father's name was Vy Tieu Bao! His name was Vi Tieu Bao! Do you hear that?" Isn't it good?
Monica: Tieu Bao, I know we can't persuade you to change your mind.

Ruby say no by a sigh of head.

Dicky: After my death, leave your sisters. Return to the palace and resume your position as a princess.

Ruby: Are you abandoning me? I'm a good girl now. I don't throw tantrums anymore.
Dicky: I know you're a good girl. I want to keep you, but I can't. I miss you calling me "Tieu Que Tu".
Ruby: Tieu Que Tu.
Dicky: Not so gentle. I want the loud and rough voice.
Ruby: Tieu Que Tu!
Dicky: Louder!
Ruby: Tieu Que Tu!
Dicky: Louder!
Ruby: Tieu Que Tu!

Dicky hugs Ruby.

Ruby: Live or die, I will be your wife.
Dicky: I'm relieved to hear that.

Dicky kisses her.

Dicky: A Kha. Where is A Kha?

Athena go toward him.

Dicky: We went through so much before we could be together. Little did I expect the relationship to end so soon. I didn't want it this way. I put in all my effort when I courted you. I fell for you at first sight. It's the truth. I feel sorry to leave you this soon.
Athena: It's all right. It's enough just to be in love, even if it were just for one day. It doesn't matter. Tieu Bao! Tieu Bao...
Dicky: I miss the slaps you gave me. Do you know why I didn't feel any pain? Slap me again. Slap me once.

Dicky takes Athena's hand and slaps his own face.

Dicky: Slap me like you did before.

Athena hugs Dicky.

Athena: Tieu Bao, I can't live without you.

Dicky turns toward Annie.

Dicky: Song Nhi, Song Nhi. You love me best and take most care of me. After I leave, take care of your sisters just as you took care of me. Take care of the children too. Do you know?
Annie: I know, Hubby. I've let you down. I can't protect you anymore.
Dicky: I'll protect you...from up there. I'll watch over you.

Dicky turns towards Teresa and Jessie.

Dicky: As for the two of you, I've known you for the longest period. You are the first who joined my Vy family. Do you know it?
Teresa: Hubby, I used to irritate you and make a fool of you. Are you mad at me?
Dicky: What do you think? You are a fierce woman. But you are very pretty. Very pretty.

Teresa cries.

Dicky: You're no longer a little princess, understand? ( to Jessie )

Jessie says "yes" by a sign of head.

Dicky: You've grown up, do you understand? Do you remember when I made fun of you on the first day we met? I made you cry and sing at the same time? Remember?

Jessie says "yes" by a sign of head. Dicky starts to sing the song Jessie sang.

Dicky: Little boy, little boy,
Dicky & Jessie: Carrying a bag to school...

Guard 1: Time's up! Vy Tieu Bao is to be taken to the execution ground!
Guard 2: Time's up! Vy Tieu Bao is to be taken to the execution ground!

All the wives cry deeply. They take Dicky's hand and don't let he leave.

Dicky: I don't want to go.

The wives cry more and more.

Dicky: Shhh...Let me go. Let me go. Don't touch me. Don't touch me. Shh....

Dicky leave the prison to go to the execution ground. He start to read a poem.

Dicky: The cool breeze carries a message under the autumn moon. Time seems to crawl as I pine for my fair lady.

The wiwes continue to read the poem with him.

Dicky & wives: Though I'm not handsome or dashing, I have a magnanimous heart...

Dicky leave the prison. The wives cry more and more...

DOMD 2000 - eps 35 - Poor Kien Ninh, bullying by Phuong Gi

VXH = Dicky's mother (Vy Xuan Hoa) *

Teresa: I feel so refreshed after a bath. Kiem Binh, it's your turn now. Let me attend to Mother-in-law.
VXH: No need!
Teresa: Come, it's comfortable.

Ruby passed in front of Teresa.

Teresa: Hey, what are you doing here? Aren't you preparing Kiem Binh's bath?
Ruby: Hey, don't I need firewood to prepare a hot bath? There's no more so how can I prepare her bath?
Teresa: You should have reckoned how much firewood you would need. Don't try to skive.
Ruby: What?! I've been doing all the manual work! Why don't you take over if you're so capable?
Teresa: Why are you raising your voice? You think I'm deaf?
Ruby: So?
VXH: Break it up. All of you are good sisters.
Jessie: That's okay. She must be tired after a day of hard work. I'll prepare my own bath.
Teresa: No way. According to family rules, junior wives wait on the seniors. If Princess Kien Ninh can't accept it, she can quit being Tieu Bao's wife, though.
Ruby: Hey, you keep bullying me! I'll tell Tieu Bao when he comes home!
VXH: Break it up! We don't even know if Tieu Bao, Song Nhi, Long Nhi and A Kha are still alive. The moon is so round. Mid-autumn is arriving, but will we have a family reunion?
Jessie: Rest assured that they'll come back safely.
Dicky, Annie , Monica: A family reunion tonight.
VXH: My son!
Dicky: Mom! My wives! I missed you!

Ruby was jealous seeing Dicky hugs all of his others wives but not her. She want to go toward Dicky, but Teresa did it before her.

Teresa: I missed you so much that my hair turned grey.
Dicky: Did it? It's as beautiful as ever. Kiss.

Teresa kisses him. And Kiem Binh do the same thing. Ruby start to cry.

Dicky: What's the matter?
Ruby: I longed for you every day, but when you come back, you kissed and hugged everybody except me!
Dicky: Next time, grab a favourable position for yourself. Phu Phu?

She says "yes" by a sign of head. He blows in her ear and she smiles.

Teresa: Enough! Cut the act! All of us are home. Go and fix dinner! ( to Ruby)
Ruby: I fix meals every day. Can I take the day off? (to Dicky)
Dicky: I don't care about housework.
Annie: Well, I love to cook. Let me do the cooking tonight.
Teresa: Aren't you tired? Go take a rest. (to Annie)
Teresa: Hey, you do the cooking.
Dicky: You do it with Song Nhi.
Teresa: Me?
Dicky: I am hungry.
Jessie: That's okay, let me do it with Song Nhi.
Teresa: No need. Since Tieu Bao wants a dinner prepared by me, I'll whip up something good.

Teresa whispers to Jessie's ear:
Teresa: Take a good seat.

Teresa: Song Nhi, let's go.

Teresa and Annie leave. Dicky is looking at Teresa.

Ruby: Why are you looking at her? Aren't I pretty?
Dicky: You weren't so fierce a while ago.
Ruby: She was bullying me.
Dicky: Useless girl.

He hugs her but gives kisses to Jessie by far. (Jessie was behind Ruby)

Ruby: Who were you kissing?
Dicky: You!

He kisses her.

DOMD 2000 - eps 29 - Kien Ninh & Tieu Bao

Ruby: Tieu Bao, do you know I've learnt to behave myself? I've even learning to make prawn dumplings. I hope you'll get to eat my prawn dumplings when you come back.
Dicky: Yes. I'd love prawn dumplings made by Princess Kien Ninh.

She is surprised by Dicky's voice. She turns and sees Dicky. She walk towards him and gives a slap.

Ruby: You're home at last?! Do you know how I passed my days? Do you know how badly I missed you? Do you know how much I love you? Do you know I make these prawn dumplings for you? Do you know I really miss you?
Dicky: Give me another beating if you wish.

She hugs him while crying.

Ruby: I really missed you! I'm sorry.
Dicky: It's all right. I'm already home. Dou you want Phu Phu?

She says "yes" by a sign of head. He blows in her ear.

Ruby: I've make prawn dumplings for you.
Dicky: Good. What kind of prawn dumplings?

DOMD 2000 - eps 24 - Kien Ninh & Tieu Bao - part 2

Dicky: Vy Tieu Bao pays his respects to Princess Kien Ninh.
Ruby: You came so late.
Dicky: The rest of you, please go. (to the maids)
Dicky: You have the guts to laugh!
Ruby: Why can't I laugh?
Dicky: What did you do to Ngo Ung Hung?
Ruby: I made him a eunuch!
Dicky: Are you serious?

She says "yes" by a sign of head.

Ruby: I pointed the gun at him and used it to knock his head. Next, slash! I made him a eunuch! Now, he can never be my husband!
Dicky: You're too bold! What a thing to do! Wasn't you scared?
Ruby: I was scared, but I did it for your sake.
Dicky: Don't implicate me! I didn't do anything.
Ruby: I'm serious. I can't defy Emperor Brother's order, yet I don't wish to be unfaithful to you. I had no choice to hurt him. So now, he and I can only be husband and wife in name. You won't become a cuckold.
Dicky: Infuriating! Ngo Tam Que is not a man to be trifled with. He holds military power. Even your brother stands in awe of him! You've stirred up big trouble!
Ruby: No sweat! I'll accuse Ngo Ung Hung of trying to rape me at knife point! So I had to defend myself. In our struggle, the dagger dropped at the wrong place! He castrated himself! Ngo Tam Que can't blame me! He can only blame his son! Right?

Dicky didn't talk and seems to be angry...Suddenly, he laughs and starts to applaud. Ruby applauds with him.

Dicky: You've got rid of a threat! Smart girl!
Ruby: Great idea? Phu Phu!
Dicky: Not just Phu Phu. We'll kiss too!
